Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in people over 60 in the Western world. The macula is the central part of the retina that transforms light entering the eye into electrical neural impulses, and mediates central vision as well as the ability to see colour and fine detail. Macular degeneration results in disturbed processing of images. Central vision is primarily affected while peripheral vision is preserved, and symptoms may include haziness or a blind spot in the centre of the visual field, blurring of written words, dimming of colours, and visual distortions. Heredity and aging appear to represent the primary risk factors although long-term exposure to blue and ultraviolet light may also contribute. Oxidative damage may also play a role as low circulating levels of antioxidants such as Vitamin A, C and E may also be associated with a higher risk. High consumption of saturated fat, high cholesterol levels and cigarette smoking have also been implicated.Clinicians VisionCare with Lutein is an all in one formula based on the latest research: AREDS II Study for support of the tissues of the eye to help maintain vision. It contains Lutein and Zeaxanthin, which are yellow-orange carotenoids present in significant amounts in the macula of the retina of the eye. Lutein supplementation may support optimum macular pigment density and maintain healthy function of the macula. Zinc has been shown to be beneficial in maintaining optimum healthy vision, and Copper is essential for zinc absorption and utilisation in the body. Selenium is a trace mineral with antioxidant action, important for the health of the lens of the human eye. A good dietary intake of Vitamin C has been shown to support macular function, eye health and vision, and Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant also works synergistically in the body to help combat free radical buildup and prevent against oxidative damage.
Directions: Take 1 capsule twice daily with food
